BASIC SET INFORavnica (RAV) is a 306 card set that will be released for sale on October 7th, 2005. There will be 110 commons, 88 uncommons, 88 rares, and 20 basic lands. There are likely 37 cards of each colour which will break down to 15 commons, 12 uncommons, and 10 rares. That leaves room for about 15 nonbasic lands, 20 basic lands, and around 20 artifacts. That means there will be approximately 70 gold cards - about the same as Invasion (although Invasion was a larger set). We also learned that gold is back, and that Ravnica will have guilds which "reward players for using color pairs". Each have their own distinct mechanic(s). promotional material has confirmed that Ravnica is a set full of gold (multicolored) cards, it is theorized that there are 10 guilds - each with a two colour In the largest metropolis of a city-covered plane, perspectives will clash and laws will be tested. From the depths under the city to its lofty spires above, Ravnica's citizens eke out an existence even as all around them ancient guilds vie for control and power. GUILD INFOconfirming "guild mana" theory? There are four uncommon guildmages in Ravnica, each with two power, two toughness, two activated abilities, and two mana cost. Their borders are gold but they can be played using mana of only one colour. One has a Reach Through Mists and a Pain. Another has a Malevolent Awakening and a Battlegrowth. The third is an Elf Wizard, and the last doesn't have blue in its cost The logo clearly featured 10 different insignias. Four are darkened and pictured at the top of the logo, along with the Ravnica symbol. The first (from left to right) is the flaming fist seen on the novel character's armour: The other three featured guilds are thought to be a candelabra or plant (white/green), an insect (black/green), and a ring (blue/black). Some believe the four darkened insignias represent the guilds that are half black, because the insignias are darker than the others. Some believe they represent the half-white guilds. And others believe they must represent the half-green guilds because green is the natural enemy of cities. But several people (including myself) believe in what we're calling the "4/3/3 theory", which is that Ravnica will be filled with cards from the guilds represented by the darkened insignias on the Ravnica logo, and each of the following smaller expansions will each include cards from three of the remaining six guilds. When the block is complete, all 10 guilds will have been represented. Most agree: The expansion symbol represents a guildhouse.
